Royal school dungannon
Co-educational
The Royal School Dungannon is a co-educational voluntary grammar school in County Tyrone, with a proud history that dates back to 1614. The school is set in its own private grounds on the edge of a traditional market town. Classrooms are large and well resourced, with specialist teaching facilities in the Sciences, Design & Technology, Music and Food Technology, as well as extensive computer provision, and sporting facilities such as a modern sports hall and multi-gym, a floodlit astro-turf pitch, shooting range, rugby and hockey pitches and tennis courts.
There is a strong boarding community housed within the school grounds, offering five and seven day boarding options for both local and overseas pupils. All facilities have been recently refurbished to offer high-quality, modern facilities which create a home-from-home atmosphere. Boarders are cared for by a dedicated team of teachers, matrons and tutors who take great pride in the high standard of pastoral care provided for boarders.
There is a strong focus on both academic achievement and extra-curricular activities at the school. A wide range of academic subjects are on offer at both GCSE and A-Level.
Results are excellent, with the boarders being among the highest achieving pupils in school. 95% of Sixth-form pupils leave to go to university, with the majority choosing to study at one of the leading universities in UK or Ireland, including Oxbridge.
